Fuck the Second Amendment

Published by bill_finger at 12:41 am under Uncategorized Edit This

I want you to read this article , and then come up with one good reason as to why every American should be entitled to an AK-47.  I want you to name one specific time when a gun saved someone’s life.  And I’ll give you ten stories to repudiate it .

I want you to defend the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, keeping in mind that this same constitution once labeled a black man as being equal to three-fifths of a white man and prohibited the production of alcohol .

I want you to explain why — in the year 2008 — it’s completely legal for ex-convicts with PTSD to carry around machines that are meant to kill people.

I want this to be the last news story that makes me cry.

Maybe it’s about time you started telling people how you feel…really Bill, bottling it up will only create unwanted results.

No, there is no reason to sell fully automatic assault rifles to anyone, let alone anyone with a 12 year old next to them. It is true that guns don’t kill people…stupid motherfuckers with guns kill people.

However if guns were controlled or banned crime would decrease. There is no valuable use for guns. http://apoetsview.today.com/2008/10/26/jennifer-hudson-gun-control/

The entire guns thing needs rehashed. Yeah people don’t want their 2nd amendment rights stepped on, well I guess their child, mother, sibling wasn’t killed by one. Hunters need guns - agreed. There are those who have security issues and don’t feel safe without a gun, this needs looked at. Then there are the rights you speak of, the right of a convicted criminal who is appropriately punished for their crime but then is entitled to carry a weapon legally - that’s just plain ridiculous! Anyone who is convincted of a violent crime shouldn’t be allowed a permit to carry a gun -the penalty of being caught, sent immediately back to the jail without need for trial and for a manditory period of time that makes it an unattractive proposition. I get the whole rights thing, I get the self defense thing, hell I even get the eye for an eye thing, but I do not get the right to kill an innocent person thing, especially if that person is a child.

Okay, Lets eliminate the guns, then what?

If you recall history, before the gun became the weapon of choice there were bows and arrows, looking back farther, knives, swords, and even a good OLE mace would do the job. If we step even further back in time, we find early man honing his skills with a club. Furthermore, a man’s bare hands accomplished the first recorded murder.

If your intent is to stop murder, the argument to eliminate guns is ineffectual and unnecessary. You can no more cure an illness by killing the patient, than you can stop the violence by eliminating the weapon.

Lizzie Borden had no gun; neither did John Wayne Gacy or Ted Bundy. Scores of murders are committed everyday in this country without the use of a gun.

If there are no guns, man will find alternate methods to destroy his enemy; history has proven this very fact.

Of course guns are dangerous and an expedient way to kill, but in their absence, are your children still safe?

I am neither an opponent nor proponent of the second amendment, simply because, I possess the ability to kill a person with a paperclip, no gun necessary. (Thank You Uncle Sam)

ThreeDegrees: To get a fully automatic weapon legally, you have to apply to the ATF for $200, inform your local police you have it and you have to pay taxes on it each year and that’s if you live in a state that allows it. Most second amendment discussions have nothing to do with it and I doubt what this man had was fully automatic.

Jodapoet: There are studies that contradict what you say. Even if we were to ban guns today, that would not remove them from the streets. If we were to confiscate every weapon legally owned, that would not get rid of the one’s illegally owned. Such a measure would only disarm the law abiding.

KatieAnne: I have seen a friend accidentally shoot himself in the head and live. I also saw my father get shot to death in my living room when I was 6. I own handguns for self defense and see no problem with it.

Also, if you’ve commited a felony, you can’t own a weapon legally without getting an appeal from the authroites.

Lastly, to the author of this post: I do not in any way wish to play down the tragedy of what happened in South Carolina. It’s senseless and the man should be punished for his crime.

If you wish me to try to say something that will justify a child being gunned down, I cannot nor will I try. If you want me to honestly defend the 2nd amendment, I’ll try.

The same constitution ensures the right to free speech and the right of women to vote. It makes sure that we can’t be searched without reason and that we don’t have to testify against ourselves. The document is not the problem nor are it’s concepts outdated.

I keep weapons because the police can’t be there all the time. The average response time in the US for a 911 call is around seven minutes. That’s six more than it takes for someone to do something unspeakable to my wife or me. Some of those weapons happen to be firearms.

The 2nd amendment was written by men who had to rebel against their leaders so that we might live free. You may think that such a sentiment is unrealistic in this day and age, but it’s still there. The 2nd amendment defends the first.

Nothing I say will change your mind and I don’t expect it to. Nothing justifies the madness of a child getting shot because someone was paranoid. But if you were to ban guns tomorrow, I assure you that it would not prevent another tragedy like this one. You would only remove the ability of citizens to defend themselves. It’s that simple.

FYI - in my state (Illinois) a convicted felon is banned from owning, buying or even possessing a gun legally. I thought that was the law in most states.

I feel that if we are going to be a gun own society than we must accept the consequences. If the majority of us are able to look at ourselves in the mirror and can justify owning automatic weapons than that is the reality that we will have to live.

I personally hate guns but I feel that if I ever want to get one for any reason then I should have that option, as should every American who hasn’t abused their constitutional rights. Two years ago I would’ve fully agreed with you, but now I see why they’re necessary.
